CPTextField can't retain first responder status after a CPReturnKeyCode event

Reported by Oliver Kennedy | March 29th, 2010 @ 04:35 AM

Some applications (eg: Chat Clients, Terminals) interact with users through a single Text Field. In these environments, the return/enter key is used to execute a command, and clear the field so the user can enter more text. Doing so, requires the CPTextField to retain first responder status. This is the default behavior of NSTextField with Actions "Sen[t] on Enter Only".

The simplest workaround at the moment is to set up a timer to re-set the responder status, but this seems like an ugly hack. It would be helpful if there were a way to either disable responder resignation, or to have the CPTextField resign responder status before calling the target action.
